Sefer HaAgudah - Krakow, 1571 - Signature - by Kabbalist Rabbi Aharon Luria, a Frankfurt Sage alongside the Shla"h HaKadosh. First Edition
Sefer HaAgudah - halachic rulings that arise from each sugya, for all Talmudic tractates, by Alexander Zuslin HaKohen. Kraków, 1571.
First edition of this early halachah sefer by one of the Rishonim. The sefer was arranged for print by Rabbi Yosef Katz of Kraków, author of Shu"t She'erit Yosef, the Ram"a's brother-in-law.
Beautiful lengthy signature on the title page by Kabbalist Rabbi Aharon Luria, among the leading sages of his generation and the rashei yeshivah in Frankfurt am Main, alongside the Shla"h HaKadosh, (rhyming in the original Hebrew):
"I will give praise and thanks to Torah and its scholars, bowing and prostrating to the Creator of Heavens and Earth, for the influence of Sefer Agudah, more precious than pearls. Fortunate is the person who studies it and is occupied with it constantly. It gives stability to those who walk with it. It atones for sins and transgressions. Signed, Aharon son of Rabbi Yehoshia Moshe ztz"l Luria"
Several additional signatures appear along the length of the sefer, and additional glosses:
"This was given to me by Hashem, Ya'akov ki katan hu of Reckendorf, av beit din and r"m in Würzburg."
"This sefer came to me as part of an estate, HaK' Moshe son of the great gaon Rabbi Ya'akov ztz"l of Hätzfeld."
Owner's signature by the gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin, av beit din of Moscow, the Netzi"v's son. Estate stamps.
Handwritten glosses and revisions on leaves 72b, 146b, 167a, 172a, 226/1. The final gloss relates to the moniker Hilchot Eretz Yisrael erroneously entitled Masechet Eretz Yisrael.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the gaon and Kabbalist Rabbi Aharon Luria of Frankfurt and the gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin.
