Rare: A complete and magnificent set of the books of the Rif with a picture of the author – Pressburg, 1836, unknown edition
A complete set comprised of six volumes of Hilchot Rav Alfas by Rabbi Yitzchak Alfasi – the Rif. Special edition: in the first volume is a large painting over an entire page in which the Rif is depicted sitting and studying Torah, and underneath it the words “The wise man said … this is our great rabbi who was the quintessential genius and the leader of leaders, Rabbi Yitzchak Alfasi.” A separate title page for each section, printed partially in red ink. A rare edition that was printed in Pressburg in 1836 – with a rare title page that states the year 1830. Does not appear in the various bibliography lists. The most prevalent edition has a title page with the year 1836. Original binding, in part three there are leaves that are devoured at the edges, without damage to text. Magnificent and preserved copy in good condition, with wide margins. Ownership stamps in Hebrew and Latin script: “One of the books of the family of R. Sternbuch, London.” Additional inscriptions in some of the volumes.
