Printed in Hebrew on the title page: The foundations of the words in brevity. To teach it easily. The last section – 159 pages – features Ethics of the Fathers with Latin translation on facing pages. The author, Philippi Aqvini [c. 1578-1650] was an apostate Jew (Mordechai was his previous name). King Louis VIII bestowed him the title of Professor of the Hebrew Language. He authored and translated many works. Missing the bottom section of the title page. Bound with: Tragoedia 1627. Original, rubbed parchment binding. Aging stains. Fine condition.
