Johannes Leusden (1624-1629) was a Dutch researcher, theologian and philologist who studied the Orient. He was one of the most prominent Bible experts of his time. He generally concluded his works with a Biblical verse written in Hebrew letters. In 1660, together with Rabbi Yosef Attias, he published the first edition of the Bible with numbered verses. This number system was accepted by Jewish printers until today. Old, cardboard binding. Red cut leaves. Very fine condition.
