A paper is pasted to the front cover with a printed dedication text, framed on three sides. The name of the addressee and the signature are written in the Maharza”ch's penmanship. The dedication text ”To my precious friend [...] my two works, which Hashem granted me the ability to publish. The first is  derashot  on the Torah, the second is about pure fear of Heaven. Both are beneficial for the reader's soul and I hope [you] appreciate them. Your friend ...” followed by his signature, ”HaK' Meshulam Zalman HaKohen” (The signature is difficult to decipher due to a later notation written on top of it.)
