Tur Orach Chaim. Copy that Belonged to the Wonder-Worker, Rabbi Raphael Reiss Hagitahl, Av Beit Din in Switzerland, Father-in-Law of the Gaon Rabbi Shalom Charif Ulman - ”A person upon whom the Divine spirit rests, expert in wonders, who enacts great miracles, Rabbi Raphael Reiss Hagenthal ztz”l,   av beit din  of Endingen” (Yeriot Shlomo) Sefer Tur Orach Chaim  with the nosei keilim , and the addition of the  Drishah U'P erishah  commentary by Rabbi Yehushua Falk, author of the Sm”a , previously printed as a work in its own right. Personal copy of the sacred gaon Rabbi Raphael Reiss Hagenthal, av beit din  of Switzerland, leading rabbi in Switzerland in his time, known as a wonder-worker. His grave site has become a magnet for those in search of salvation. Patriarch of a magnificent and very large rabbinic family. The title page and the protective leaf bear four (!) of Rabbi Raphael's owner's signatures, at least two [and possibly all] of which are in his own script: ”לה' הארץ ומלואהק' (ומלואה, הק') רפאל האגיטאהל” and another, ”לה' הארץ ומלאהק' רפאל האגיטאהל” (identical to the previous signature, but with ”ומלואה” is written without the middle ”ו”). [Rabbi Raphael was known to have had several styles of signatures; refer to the Otzrot Mahara”sh Charif anthology, issue 4 pp. 37-38 which displays pictures of several different styles of Rabbi Raphael's signatures on various sefarim , with the theory one of them is apparently not in his penmanship. These signatures are not photographed there, but one can safely assume that at least some of them are in his penmanship.] The protective leaf bears notations from an unidentified writer noting that the sefer  belongs to Rabbi Raphael:”This Sefer Tur Orach Chaim  belongs to the great light, Rabbi Raphael ... I attest to this, HaK' Zeligman ...”; ”Hashem has also granted me this, HaK' Raphael, son of Avraham of Niederhagenthal, 18 Elul, 1783. Regarding this, the passuk  [?] states, [...] signing in his name.” Over fifty glosses handwritten by several different writers in various periods appear along the leaves of the sefer . It may be that some of the earlier glosses were written by Rabbi Raphael in his own hand. If these are indeed his handwritten glosses, this is a tremendously important discovery, as there are no known remnants of his divrei Torah at all (except for a hymn he composed).  Additional signatures: ”Hashem also granted me this, HaK' Wolf son of ... Rabbi Leib TP of Endingen” - this is the gaon Rabbi Wolf Dreyfus, av beit din of Lengnau, Switzerland. Several of his notes appear along the leaves of the sefer , signed ”וואלף ד”פ.” Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the sacred G-dly wondrous gaon Rabbi Raphael Reiss Hagenthal and Rabbi Wolf Dreyfus . [2], 136, 139-321 leaf. Mispaginated. 37 cm. Overall moderate-fine condition. Stains and usage marks. Worming perforations, primarily in the margins. Adhesion on the bottom of the title page and small adhesions on the first leaves. Wear and tears in the margins of the first and last leaves. Creases. Several partially detached leaves. Antique leather binding, blemished and chafed.
