Extremely Important: Handwritten Kuntress on Hetter Agunah by the Yeriot Shlomo - Complete from beginning to end - lengthy compilation handwritten entirely [10 large pages, over 5000 words] in the script and with the signature of the renowned gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman, av beit din  of Makova, known by the name of his sefer , as the author of Yeriot Shlomo . Sent to the gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Bennet, dayan  and moreh tzeddek  of Paks, nephew and disciple of the Mahara”m Bennet. [Makova], Rosh Chodesh Kislev, 1854. Printed with many changes [see below] in Shu”t Yeriot Shlomo  Part I, p. 61 siman  29, p. 61a- 65b. The kuntress  deals with the most serious topics regarding releasing an agunah for remarriage. These issues are submitted exclusively to gedolei hador , and even they themselves do not usually rely on their own opinions only, but seek out the agreement of other gedolei hador as well. This responsum is printed in Shu”t Yeriot Shlomo . The author, as was his way, flourishes his pen in his renowned genius, with proofs from all over Sh”as and poskim  until the end of his responsum, where, through his koach d'heteira  - he releases this agunah for remarriage. In the Torah way, he states the condition: ”if another rabbi agrees, a rabbi known to be an elder tzaddik, a moreh hor'a'ah  and expert scholar.” As stated, the responsum was printed with many changes in the sefer , and the reason for these changes is evident in the margins of the manuscript, where the Yeriot Shlomo begs and pleads that the addressee forgive him for asking him to copy the responsum and send it to him, because he does not have a copy of his own. Apparently the addressee transcribed it with some changes. Another detail we discover only in the manuscript with no hint in the printed responsum is the tremendous speed with which the Yeriot Shlomo wrote this kuntress  from beginning to end. He writes as follows: ”I started writing this responsum on Rosh Chodesh Kislev, but in the meantime I had to leave the city to officiate at a wedding. I was involved in a celebration afterwards as well, with the arrangement of a match between my daughter and her bridegroom, R' Yeshayah Pollack of Senta, so I completed it only on 8 Kislev.” The Yeriot Shlomo even apologizes for the long time it took him to write this compilation - a compilation of comprehensive expertise and depth of understanding all areas of Torah, which, under natural circumstances, would take weeks or even months to compose - yet the Yeriot Shlomo completed it in only seven days - with Shabbat in the middle, and an intercity trip for a wedding, and his daughter getting engaged all in that same week. Lest we consider that perhaps the Yeriot Shlomo had abundant time to think about the responsum before committing it to paper, we are informed otherwise. He writes at the beginning of the responsum that the question reached him four days before Rosh Chodesh Kislev. This is therefore astonishing one-time evidence of the famous genius of the Yeriot Shlomo. Had it not been written in black-and-white in his own hand, we would not have believed it. None of this appears in the sefer , only in this manuscript.
