Sefer Tur Yoreh Deah with the Beit Yosef commentary by Rabbi Yosef Karo, leading sage of Safed. Immediately upon its printing, this commentary became the most important halachic work, to this day. Venice, Bragadin Press, 1551. Rare first edition, printed in the author's lifetime. Incomplete copy.
Dozens of short handwritten glosses and revisions along the length of the sefer, written by different writers.
[28], 398 leaf. Lacking the title page and the following leaf with the author's preface. The body of the work is complete. 34.5 cm.
Fine condition. Several leaves in moderate-fine condition. Usage and aging marks. Glued reinforcements in several leaves. Wear and tears with lack in the margins of the first and last leaves, restored with paper completions. Creases and tears in the last leaves. The sefer is divided into two volumes with new semi-leather spines.
