Alshich HaKadosh, First Edition: Rav Pninim, Venice, 1601.

Sefer Rav Pninim, elucidation on Sefer Mishlei. With the text of the sefer, by Rabbi Moshe Alshich. Venice, Juan di Gara Press, 1601. First edition, printed just after the author's passing. Rare sefer.

The sefer includes 202 "batim" [simanim], hence its title, Rav Pninim [the gematria of רב is 202]. With extensive indices beginning with a comment by the author, ztz"l on the indices. The indices conclude with a note by Chacham Yitzchak Gershon that the printing of the sefer concluded on Thursday, 5 Elul [אני לדודי ודודי לי] in 1601, the year אלשי"ך [in gematria: שס"א] "To inform you that he and his moniker are one and the same." The sefer was brought to print by Rabbi Chaim, the author's son, with an interesting foreword. An interesting apology from the proofreader, R' Yisrael HaZifroni, appears on the final leaf: "Who will comprehend my mistakes? They were honest mistakes made by empty and reckless people ... Who can correct his own distortions and deeds that may not be done at night and on the eve of Shabbat, when damagers were born? Who am I ..."
