Sacred Zhitomir Tehillim. Unknown Edition. Zhitomir, 1861

"Elegantly printed in all forms of beauty" (text of the title page)

Sefer Tehillim, elegantly printed in all forms of beauty. Carefully proofread and supervised kri and ktiv. Zhitomir, by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira, grandson of the rabbi of Slavuta. 1861. Sefer Tehillim printed in sanctity by the renowned printer of the Shapira family. This sefer is unknown in the Bibliographiah.

Prayer books printed by the Shapira family printers are known in Chassidic communities as first-rate segulah sefarim for fulfilment of prayers. Sometimes, the Tehillim section is even removed from Nevi'im and Ketuvim to use it for praying more comfortably.

Rare and important sefer Tehillim. Printed specifically as a Tehillim to be used for prayer, to pour one's heart out to Hashem, and not as a part of Tana"ch. Indeed, this Tehillim was printed without commentaries (Rash"i and Metzudot) and without Seder HaMa'amadot. However, the prayers traditionally recited before and after reciting Tehillim are included, as well as the prayers for the night of Hoshana Rabbah.

81 leaf, 15.5 cm. Uneven page cuts. Magnificent leather binding.

Fine condition. Aging stains. Usage marks. It is rare to find a pocket edition of Tehillim in such condition.
