Especially Rare: Kabbalistic Machzor with the Rama"k's Commentary. Venice, 1584. Glosses

Sephardic Machzor for the high holidays, Seder Selichot and Seder Tefillot Rosh HaShanah V'Yom HaKippurim with a Kabbalistic commentary by Rabbi Moshe Cordovero (Rama"k), founder of the the school of thought known as 'Kabbalat HaRama"k.' Printed in a small format. Venice, Juan di Gara Press, 1584. Lacking the title page and individual leaves. Glosses in Oriental script appear along the length of the sefer from the period of printing, some lengthy.

Especially rare machzor. To the best of our knowledge, this machzor has never appeared at auction. It is especially rare to find fully complete copies of this rare machzor, which contains over 400 leaves. Even the copy scanned on the National Library's website is incomplete. There are copies with a table of several years added to them, but this table is not part of the sefer.

The machzor was printed less than 15 years after the Rama"k's passing. The printers point out in their foreword that this commentary was already printed once before (Constantinople, 1576). They write that only a very small number of copies was printed, and only two or three crumbs remain from those. (This was written only about eight years after that edition was printed.) There are indeed almost no known complete copies of the machzor printed in Constantinople, so that this here is the first edition that can be obtained, and it is an extremely precious find.
