Sefer Noda BiYehudah - responsa by Rabbi Yechezkel Landau. Mahadura Tanina, Vol I. [Russia, 1812?]. Two gedolei hador signed the title page, from among the leading disciples and friends of the gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Many lengthy handwritten glosses appear along the leaves of the sefer. Unprinted.

The signature of the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Kara, av beit din of Zempelburg, appears at the top of the title page. He was one of Rabbi Akiva Eiger's most prominent disciples, and Rabbi Akiva Eiger also granted him semichah. Responsa and letters to him appear in Rabbi Akiva Eiger's sefarim (Shu"t Rabbi Akiva Eiger Tanina, responsum 130, Sefer Ktav V'Chotem R' Akiva Eiger in the supplements to siman 8).

In addition to the above is an earlier owner's signature at the top of the title page: "Belongs to me; my name is ... Alexander Ziskind ... of Złotów." This is none other than Rabbi Akiva Eiger's friend to whom he addressed the famous responsum about the cut-off vav ["ו' קטיעא"] in the passuk "briti Shalom" (Teshuvot Rabbi Akiva Eiger, Psakim 75).

Many lengthy scholarly glosses appear along the entire sefer [approximately 250 lines], most in the hand of the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Kara. The content of the glosses has not been examined, but they have probably never been printed.

Fine condition. Aging stains. The corners of the final leaves are blemished, with almost no damage to the text.
