Unprinted Manuscript - Autograph of the Gaon Rabbi Shraga Feivush Frankel, Father of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Frankel of Dorog, Author of Imrei Shefer. Breslau, 1802

"This tzaddik [Rabbi Feivush Frankel], while still in this world, experienced spiritual inspiration, and merited the Divine spirit ..." (From the words of the gaon Rabbi Moshe Tennenbaum, the author's great-grandson)

Large manuscript - Sefer Pe'er Halachah, Torah novellae on topics scattered in Sha"s and Tana"ch, halachah and aggadah, from the gaon Rabbi Michael Shimon May, author of Chiddushei Hagahot al HaTur, written by his disciple, Rabbi Shraga Feivush Frankel Ungar, with the addition of novellae by the write, Rabbi Shraga Feivush. [Breslau], 1802 [chronogram "פ'אר ו'כ'בו'ד נ'ות'נים לשמו [תקס"ב]]. Not printed.

This is Rabbi Shraga Feivush's personal ledger. It served him while he was studying under his uncle. In it, he wrote various insights to the the best of his ability, some from his teacher, and some of his own. At the end of most of the passages, he wrote "In the name of Adm"o " or "In the name of the above" - novellae by his teacher Rabbi Michael Shimon, or "I toiled and found" - his own chiddushim. Alongside some of his teacher's insights, there is a small note "השגות רפפ"א" [Rabbi Feivush Frankel Ungar]. As is evident from the style of writing, some - possibly most - of his teacher's novellae are not copied or dictated, but his original notes per his own understanding.

Notes on the back of the title page: "This sefer, Pe'er Halachah, was found, expounded, and collected by my own work, in the name of [my uncle] Adm"o ... the famous gaon Rabbi Shimon Maya ... as proof, I have signed my name, the writer, his disciple and nephew ... the youth Feivush Frankel Ungar." Similar notations appear in the title page with variations, most signed by Rabbi Shraga Feivush. One has a signed confirmation by Rabbi Itzak Katz.

The author's famous son was the sacred Admo"r the wonder-worker, the sacred gaon Rabbi Shmuel Frankel of Dorog, author of Imrei Shefer. Rabbi Shmuel himself may have possessed - or even studied - from this work by his father.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for several examples of difficulties and novellae brought by the writer from members of his family and his friends, some mentioned by name, and brief biographies of the mighty gaon Rabbi Shraga Feivel Frankel and the gaon Rabbi Michael Shimon Maya.

Several sharp short notations from an unknown writer.

Apparently several passages were written by additional writers.

The vast majority of this manuscript has never been printed. Five and a half pages that deal with hilchot Chnukah were printed in the Moriah anthology (Year IX, G3-4 pp 12-15, is found here on p. 12b, 14a; Year 23 G1-2 pp. 26-28 is found here on pp. 14b-15a)
