"HaMalachim" Shulchan Aruch, Amsterdam, in the Year נח"ת - When the Ba'al Shem Tov was Born. Magnificent Complete Set in Small Format

Shulchan Aruch with Hagahot HaRam"a and Be'er HaGolah, and word explanations, very carefully considered and proofread. With many approbations given for this edition, from the rabbis of Amsterdam: Rabbi Ya'akov Sasportas, Rabbi Shlomo di Olivera, Rabbi David ibn Attar, an approbation from Rabbi Naftali HaKohen Katz, author of Semichat Chachamim, and others. Amsterdam, Emanuel Atias Press, 1697-1699. Four volumes. Magnificent complete set, placed in an elegant designated leather box.

Most of the set was printed in the year "נח"ת", traditionally accepted as the year the Ba'al Shem Tov, the light of the seven seas, was born. That same year, and at the same press, the renowned Shla"h was printed - Shla"h Nacha"t, which became the most sought-after segulah sefer.

Each section has two title pages. The first is illustrated with pictures of angels/cherubs, hence the nickname of this sought-after edition, Shulchan Aruch im Tziyurei HaMalachim. In each section the angels are holding various items related to that section: In Choshen Mishpat, they are holding scales; in Even HaEzer, they are holding a quill and an inkwell for writing a contract, and so on.

The Orach Chayim section has the original illustrated title page, and it was the part that was printed first. Apparently there was a lot of demand, so there were not many illustrated title pages left for this part. As a result, the printers took the reprinted title page of Yoreh Deah, and printed "Orach Chayim" instead of "Yoreh Deah" - but the picture is different from the original title page here. As stated, in each part, there are different drawings, so that it is easy to determine what is the original title page and what is a title page that was taken from the Yoreh Deah section. [Refer to Winner'S catalog no. 129 item 45, for the other version of Orach Chayim's title page].
