Manuscript - Sefer Halichot Olam and Sefer HaYirah by Rabbeinu Yonah. Syria, 1701 - Manuscript - Sefer Halichot Olam , Talmudic rules by Rabbi Yeshua HaLevi; and Sefer HaYirah , mussar by Rabbeinu Yonah of Girondi. Delicate semi-cursive writing, the work of an expert scribe. Including a beautifully illustrated title page in an Oriental style. [Damascus, Syria], 1701 (chronogram: ”אהבתי את”כם”). The script was clearly written by an experienced scribe well-versed in his craft. The writing is straight and orderly, with care taken to ensure beautiful margins. The opening word of each passage is written in large block letters. Manuscripts in this style can be found among disciples of Rabbi Chaim Vital who lived during that era in and around Damascus. A different style of writing was already designed during a slightly later period. Signatures and notations by rabbis and gvirim  from distinguished Damascus families: ”This is my portion in all my work ... the youth Mei'o't ... Parchi [possibly ”Meir Yom Tov ...”] ”L[Midra]sh M[h”r] the gvir  Moshe Lazbonah ...” Additional signatures: ”Moshe Bormad, ” ”Massoud ... Bormad, ” ”Avraham” and more. [109] written leaves from both sides. Lacking [6] leaves from various places. 17 cm. Several glosses along the leaves of the sefer  by different writers. Overall moderate condition. Many worming perforations. The sefer  has been totally artistically restored. New binding with a leather spine.
