Kessef Mishneh, Hafla'ah and Zera'im. First Edition. Copy that Belonged to Rabbi Yehudah Diwan. Signed Gloss in his Hand

Sefer Mishneh Torah L'HaRamba"m, Part III - Sefer Hafla'ah and Sefer Zera'im. The Ramba"m's text is printed in the center of the leaf. It is surrounded by the 'Kessef Mishneh' commentary by Rabbi Yosef Karo, author of Shulchan Aruch. First edition, printed by the author in his lifetime. Venice, 1574. Copy that belonged to Rabbi Yehudah Diwan - one of the gedolei chachmei Eretz Yisrael and author of Zivchei Shlamim (his nephew is the wonder-worker Rabbi Amram Diwan). His sacred signature appears at the beginning of the sefer (crossed-out). Very beautiful and lengthy gloss handwritten and signed by him on page 30b.

First edition of the Kessef Mishneh - one of the most important sifrei halachah ever printed. The sefer was sent by the Beit Yosef to be printed in Venice, and he appointed the Rem"a of Pano to supervise the printing. This edition is known for its accuracy. In fact, this edition is the one that established the leaf format [צורת הדף] for Mishneh Torah LeHaRamba"m with the Maggid Mishneh and the Kessef Mishneh.

Leaf [2] bears a calligraphic signature handwritten by Rabbi Yehudah Diwan, one of the leading gedolim of the Land of Israel, and author of Zivchei ShlamimPage 30b of Hilchot Nedarim (Chap. 11 Halachah 1), there is a beautiful and especially lengthy gloss [close to 200 words] handwritten and signed Yeudah Diwan. This gloss is not printed in his sefarim.

Glosses by various writers also appear along the length of the sefer. Additional signatures (some rubbed-out): "The youth Shmuel Laniado, " "Yosef becher Yitzchak ..."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Chacham Yehudah Diwan.

Renowned expert R' Yosef Aviv"i's certificate of authenticity is included, affirming positive identification of the handwriting.
