Peh Shlishi L'Eliyahu! Kuntress Hanhagot HaGr”a Handwritten by his Disciple, Rabbi Zundel of Salant - Manuscript of Hanhagot HaGr”a  - Complete compilation handwritten by the tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant, who lived in the Gr”a's generation and was called ”Peh Shlishi L'Eliyahu” - the leading disciple of the Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, leading disciple of the Gr”a. [Lithuania, 1820s]. This manuscript contains unfamiliar conduct and stunning stories about the Gr”a, some of which do not appear in Ma'aseh Rav , making this a supplement and expansion of this familiar book about the Gr”a's conduct. Inter alia , there are Kabbalistic novellae and several of the Gr”a's dream requests and visions. The kuntress  opens with a notation by Rabbi Zundel, something of a title: 'With Hashem's help, and in His honor, heard from Mohari”tz of Kovno z”l, ' later on Rabbeinu quotes other sources: the gaon Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef? of Volozhin, the expert M. Shmuel of Shat (Šėta), I heard from Rabbi M. Katz z”l, the rabbi of Shveshkeno told me, from Rabbi Moshe HeChassid z”l of Telz and more. We will extract some pearls as a taste of the sea of wisdom here, for a wise person to understand the rest: ”The gaon z”l said to the rav z”l, there is no day that a person's yetzer does not increase influencing his study more than the previous day.” (Imagine!  - the Gr”a had a yetzer hara  to not study!); ”The gaon was shown the gates of Gan Eden and the gates of Gehinnom”; ”The gaon's mother came after her passing to rebuke him that he was mourning too much”; ”When his brother Rabbi Dov became ill, the gaon said ... What do you need doctors for - Hashem heals the ill. The doctor from Amsterdam asked him - Did Hashem create doctors and medicine for no reason? He answered that Hashem did not create them for no reason - they are for the uncircumcised, the impure. The doctors are for the non-Jews, not the Jews, for whom Hashem is the healer of the ill and the creator of cures.” Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant .
