Shu"t HaRam"a. Hanau, 1711. Including the Renowned Omitted Responsum. Important Signatures
Book of responsa written by the great gaon Rabbi Moshe Isserlis of Krakow. Hanau, Heinrich Ya'akov of Bachhausen Press, 1710 [the colophon and the approbations state 1711]. Beautiful woodcut printer's device.
This is the book by the great posek of recent generations, whose instructions were accepted across the Ashkenazic world. It was said of him, "The Jewish people were led out with an outstretched hand [yad ram"a]."
Siman 124 is a famous (lenient) responsum regarding drinking stam yeynam that was omitted from subsequent editions, even the Amsterdam edition that was printed that same year.
The title page and the following leaf bear important owners' signatures, some of which are unidentified. These include: "The youth Ya'akov Ehrenreich..."; "Who is a person who seeks life ... son of Rabbi Michel Emden ..." and others. The rosh yeshivah of Kol Torah and av beit din of Fulda, Rabbi Baruch Kunstadt's signature appears on the front flyleaf.
[2], [2], 5-136 leaf. Approximately 20 cm.
Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Old, worn, and detached binding.
