Sefer HaYashar by Rabbeinu Tam. First Edition. Special Copy
Sefer HaYashar on Talmudic topics, by Rabbeinu Tam, one of the leading Tosafists. Vienna, 1811. First edition. The book opens with an approbation by Rabbi Mordechai Bennet and another from the Chatam Sofer.
Sefer HaYashar is divided into two parts. The first is novellae on the Babylonian Talmud, and the second is responsa. The book was written in 1149 by Rabbeinu Ya'akov Tam, one of the leading Tosafists, and part of it was edited by his disciples, including Rabbi Eliezer of Metz and Rabbeinu Petter. Despite the fact that the book was printed only hundreds of years after Rabbeinu Tam's passing, the title, Sefer HaYashar, was selected by Rabbeinu Tam himself, as explained in his preface ["יען כל פקודי כל ישרתי בו"]."
