Sefer Seder HaDorot - history of the world, prominent personalities and events from Creation to just before the author's time; the order of Tana'im and Amora'im; titles of books and names of their authors, by Rabbi Yechiel Halperin, av beit din of Minsk. Beautiful copy, with all the index leaves at the beginning of the book.
First edition of this most important sefer, a fundamental historical work, later printed in many editions and cited extensively in halachic literature. It is not just some biographical sketch - the author reasoned that there is much significance to knowledge of the history of the Tana'im and the Amora'im - even when determining halachah - so that one is familiar with who is the teacher and who is the disciple.
This precedential book received many approbations from the geonim of Ashkenaz, Rabbi Netanel Weil - author of Korban Netanel, Rabbi Shaul Levenstam and many of the dayanim of Berlin, the geonim of Poland, and the geonim of Lithuania.
