The Rosh Yeshivah of Mir, the Great Gaon Rabbi Nachum Partzovitz, Juggles Debts

Lengthy and interesting letter [approximately 250 words], entirely handwritten by the rosh yeshivah of Mir, the renowned gaon Rabbi Nachum Partzovitz - "R' Nochem" - one of the leading roshei yeshivah of recent generations. Jerusalem. Undated.

Most of the letter is filled with Torah thoughts, delving to the depths of yeshivish topics, the subject of chazakot in Bava Batra, as befits the head of the largest yeshivah in Israel and one of the famous geonim of Lithuania. However, at the top of the letter, there are several lines in which Rabbi Nachum Partzovitz requests that the addressee send him several postdated checks, and two months after he cashes them, he will compensate him for them with his own checks.

Indeed, 'Talmudic scholars have no rest in this world, ' and the leading rosh yeshivah, the author of Chiddushei Reb Nachum, alongside his unfathomable Torah greatness, as is demonstrated in this letter, written with uncommon breadth of knowledge and expertise, and aside from his lofty position, had to deal with exhausting and humiliating monetary juggling (occasionally bordering on the criminal, but no worries, both the writer and the recipient undoubtedly exist on a plane beyond the reach of the law) and all for the sake of maintaining the largest yeshivah in Israel. And as David HaMelech has already stated (Berachot, 4a): "Ribbono shel Olam, am I not pious? All kings, east and west, sit together in their honor and I dirty my hands [for Your honor] with blood and amnion"!
