Hilchot Shechitah with Illustrations. Senneh (Persian Kurdistan), 1802

Manuscript of the laws of ritual slaughter with illustrations, bound together with three rare halachic works, Yemin Moshe, Zikaron LiV'nei Yisrael and Shochtei HaYeladim [Amsterdam, 1718]. The manuscript consists of 30 written pages bound together with the books, as well as many lengthy comments and glosses on the sheets all along the books. There are illustrations of domestic animal parts at the beginning of the manuscript.

The final leaf of  Sefer Zikaron LiVnei Yisrael bears a manuscript-certificate for a ritual slaughterer [apparently the author of this manuscript. This certificate was given in Senneh in 1802 (according to the year detail, but a later copy lists 1832?). The calligraphic signature of the rabbi who granted the certificate - one of the rabbis of Senneh - has not yet been deciphered. [His first name is Yehoshua.]

Senneh is the city of Sanandaj - capital of the Kurdistan region of northwest Iran. [Refer to A. Ben Ya'akov, Kehillot Yehudei Kurdistan, Jerusalem, 1961, p. 148].

[11], 72, [8] leaves, 14 cm.  Yemin Moshe is lacking a title page, but  Zikaron LiVnei Yisrael and  Shochtei HaYeladim that are included with it do have an original illustrated title page. The manuscript is at the beginning of the book [14 pp] and at its end [16 pp], along with many comments among the books' sheets.

Moderate condition. Aging stains. Minimal tears. Persian leather binding.
