Vladimir Yankilevsky (b.Moscow, Feb. 15, 1938-d. Paris, Jan.4, 2018 Paris) was a Russian artist known mainly for his participation in the Soviet non conformist Art movement of the 1960's-1980's. Discovered in the early 70's by the Gallerist Dina Vierny who encouraged him to relocate to Paris where he would be able to continue to break free from the Soviet-imposed constraints of social realism without the censorship of the Russian authorities. The main focus of his work was the relationship between figurative and abstract art and the reflection of man in the universe. His works can be found in the StateTretyakov Gallery, Moscow, the Maillol Museum, Paris, the Pompidou Museum, Paris, the Tate Museum, London and the Ludwig Museum, Cologne.
This painting was a gift from the artist to the current owner.
