The Life and Wanderings of Our Father Avraham - Replica of an Antique Painted Map, second half of 20th century, published by Universitas Booksellers Jerusalem, after an original engraving from Antwerp, Belgium, beginning of 17th century by the cartographer and publisher: Abraham Ortelius, design: Franz Hogenberg. The map depicts the Land of Canaan and part of Egypt; facing North. Around the map 22 medallions showing descriptions from the life of Abraham our Father: the expeltion of Hagar and Ishmael and Binding of Isaac. Underneath the cartouche on the right there are three scale rulers drawn according to three different measuring techniques. The map itself is designed is a hanging map, as they used to hand in private homes in the Netherlands in that period. Around the map a quote from The Book of Genesis. Framed under Glass, measurements: 45X59 cm. In good general condition: reasonable yellowing to paper, light stains along the edges.
