Handwriting of the Admo"r Rabbi Ya'akov Aryeh of Radzymin - Special Segulah for Protection
Excerpt from the bookֲ Bikkurei Aviv by Rabbi Aryeh Gutterman - the Admo"r of Radzymin, in his handwriting.
Before us is an excerpt from his Torah thoughts on the weekly portion Shoftim, which were printed in his book, Bikkurei Aviv. In his large, characteristic handwriting. The book was printed from his manuscript in Pietrkov, 1936.
Handwriting by the Admo"r of Radzymin is known as a tried and true segulah. The Admo"r of Gur, author of Lev Simchah, related that when he fled from the Nazis during the Holocaust, his father, the author of Imrei Emet, gave him a manuscript by the Admo"r of Radzymin and told him that it is "a segulah for protection." The "Lev Simchah" added that it was incredibly rare for his father to determine something as a segulah, especially for protection. When the "Lev Simchah" obtained a manuscript by him after the war, he rejoiced greatly. (For more, refer to the book Libam Shel Yisrael, a biography of the Admo"r, pp. 397-399.)
Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh of Radzymin (1792-1877) was one of the patriarchs of Chassidut in Poland. In his youth, he studied under the Chozeh of Lublin and the Maggid of Kozhnitz, and later under the Yehudi HaKadosh and Rabbi Bumin of Peshischa. He began to serve as an Admo"r in Radzymin after the passing of Rabbi Yitzchak of Vorka. He lived a long life and was considered to be the 'Elder Admo"r' of his generation, and a person of great influence. He was well-known as a holy man and a miracle worker. Many flocked to his court, renowned Admo"rs and rabbis among them. Two of his grandsons who are named after him are the present Admo"rs of Gur and of Amshinov.
