Mevaser Tzeddek. Berdichev, 1817
Chassidic thought on the Torah by Rabbi Yissachar Dov Ber, of 'Geza Tzvi.' Second edition. On the title page: "With additional virtues beyond the first." With approbations given for this edition, including an approbation from Rabbi Yisrael of Berdichev, son of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, who was the author's friend.
The author mentions many Chassidic tzaddikim in his book, including: the Ba'al Shem Tov, the maggid of Zlotchov, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev and more.
Rabbi Yissachar Dov (Ber) of Zlotchov [d. 1795] was among the tzaddikim of the third generation of the Chassidic movement. He was a son of Rabbi Aryeh Yehudah Leibish of 'Geza Tzvi,' and grandson of the gaon Rabbi Naftali of Frankfurt, author of Semichat Chachamim. Rabbi Yissachar Dov was a disciple of the maggid of Mezeritch and of the maggid of Zlotchov, and a friend of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. He also served in the Zlotchov rabbinate and established a yeshivah there. His own disciples included Rabbi Chaim of Chernowitz, author of Be'er Mayim Chaim, who, in his book Eretz Chaim, wrote about witnessing his rabbi's Divine inspiration. He ascended to the Land of Israel in 1795, and lived there for a short time until his passing on 7 Av 1795. He is interred next to the Holy Alshich.
