Tractate Berachot - Slavuta, 1818-1817. Approbations by Leading Admo"rim
Tractate Berachot with the commentaries; at the end of the volume, Mishnayot Zeraim (Slavuta, 1818), with a separate title page. Printed by the Admo"r Rabbi Moshe Shapira, rabbi of Slavuta, son of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz.
Before us is the first volume of the renowned Sha"s which was printed in sanctity and purity by Rabbi Moshe Shapira (the printing tools and the letters were also immersed in a mikveh before beginning the work). Printed only in this Tractate Berachot are approbations by the Elder Admo"r, the author of Tanya; Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel, author of Ohev Yisrael of Apta; Rabbi Yisrael, son of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, and others. The Chassidic leaders praise and glorify the printer, the renowned tzaddik, and his praiseworthy printing house in their approbations: "Hash-m desires the benefit of his righteousness, Torah will increase and a generous spirit will awaken ... son of holy ones, Rabbi Moshe, Av Beit Din of Slavuta, who saw fit to reprint the Babylonian Talmud and the Arba Turim at his praiseworthy press, which is superior to all the others in these countries ..." (opening of the approbation by the Elder Admo"r of Lubavitch).
Books printed at the Slavuta Press are known to possess a special sanctity. It is accepted that possession of books from the Slavuta Press is a segulah for protection of the home and for success.
