Passover Haggadah with the Ma'aseh Nissim Commentary by "One of the Geonim of our Times" [Rabbi Ya'akov b"r Ya'akov Moshe]. Zolkiew, 1807. Author's Handwriting on the Title Page
Haggadah with the renowned commentary by Rabbi Ya'akov Loberbaum of Lissa, author ofֲ Chavat Da'atֲ andֲ Netivot HaMishpat, as printed in his lifetime. In 1801, a haggadah was printed with the commentary of the Abarbanel and R' Eliezer Ashkenazi, and with a commentary by the author ofֲ Netivot published anonymously, without the name "Ma'aseh Nissim." There is only one copy of this edition in the world. Before us the second edition, in which the commentary is printed on its own for the first time, and with the name "Ma'aseh Nissim." The author omitted his name; the title page simply states that he is the author of Chavat Da'at. The Ma'aseh Nissim commentary was printed thereafter in dozens of editions.
The copy before us bears a handwritten inscription of the author's name: Authored by the Av Beit Din of Lissa, known by his proper name asֲ Ya'akov son of Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe ztz"l. The handwriting is from the period the book was printed, and it may be that it is the author's handwriting, having gifted this copy to someone else.
[7] 22 leaves, the haggadah is complete. 3 leaves are lacking in the section on the laws of muktzeh added at the end of the book. Ben Menachem 3; Otzar HaHaggadot 505.
Moderate condition. Slight blemishes in the title page with damage to isolated words. Many aging and usage stains. Light tears with damage to isolated letters.
