Large Decorated Plate - Damascus Work – Binding of Isaac
Decorative plate. [Syria, end of 19th century or beginning of 20th century]. Damascus work (silver inlaid into brass; stamped with Arabic letters). Large plate. Border decorated with floral decorations and pointed turrets. Detailed drawing of the binding of Isaac, beginning with Abraham leaving home with Isaac, the mule and the lads; the lads waiting far off; the scene with the angel; Hebrew inscription on the base of the plate: “The Binding of Isaac". Diameter 47 cm.
