Purim Token - Germany, 16th Century
Rechnungspfennig token, with the figures of Mordecai and Haman (scenes from the Book of Esther). [Germany, ca. 1590]. Made by Hans Krauwinkel.
Obverse: Mordecai wearing regal attire, riding a horse led by Haman, surmounted by the legend "Haman Mordoche". Beneath is the legend "Esther VI". Signed - "H.K". Reverse: Haman hanged in his yard and the legend "Das Havs [Haus] Haman".
Diameter: 27 mm. Slightly bent.
