Letter written by author and signed and stamped by Rabbi David Sperber, Gaon of Brasov, to Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Shdrowitzky.
In the letter, the rabbi asks him to try and work for Rabbi Naftali Halberstam, who will soon obtain the release and permission to travel to London for his sister's wedding.
The letter is written in a writer's handwriting.
Rabbi David Sperber - (5637-5722) Otzar HaRabbanim, 5075. Known as the Gaon of Brasov. He was one of the greatest responsa in Rumania before the war, he learned from Rabbi Meir Arik (author of the Emrei HaYamoshar) and from Rabbi Chaim of Kosov (author of Torah HaChaim) and was associated with the Admor Rabbi Moshe Hagar of Kosov, And the "Levon Legion" (on which he wrote a commentary called "To David to Remind"). He immigrated to Eretz Israel and was a member of the Council of Torah Sages until his death.
Recipient of the letter - Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Shrovitzky (5667-5638), son of Rebbe Meir Shalom of Bialystok and son-in-law of Rabbi Pinchas Iscar of Pintszew and Sosnowiec. Rabbi and Rabbi of Bialystok, active in "Agudat Israel" in Poland and one of the faithful of the home of Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzansky, of Tel Aviv Rabbis and chairman of "Agudath Israel" in Tel Aviv. During the Holocaust he was sent to the Far East on rescue missions, on behalf of Agudath Israel and the Association of Polish Rabbis, to deal with refugees in the Far East, Siberia and throughout Russia. Served as representative of the Jewish Agency and the Polish government-in-exile. In later years he also dealt extensively with matters of education and charity, and headed the secret activity of Agudath Israel to send aid to Russian Jews under the Iron Curtain.
