Prayer Book for the Entire Year. Yemen, 19th Century
Prayer book for the entire year, including weekday, Shabbat, holidays and fast days prayers. Yemen, 19th century. 168 leaves, paper. 24×17 cm. Decorated title page. Nice, Yemenite script. Most of the prayer book is vowelized. Leaves 62-65 feature the “Iggeret L’Maharitz” which was customarily recited in all synagogues by the Shaliach Tzibur on Shabbat HaGadol after reading the Haftora – as per the customs of Sana’a and… since this was the custom of our forefathers..” This letter is in Hebrew and Arabic and relates to the laws of Passover, written by Rabbi Yechya Ibn Tzalach. Incomplete: missing the section beginning with the selichot for the Yom Kippur “Ne’ila”. Red leather binding. Aging stains. Very fine condition.
