Ha'Mishmar Ha'Ezrachi (Israeli Civil Guard) is an organization of volunteers whose goal is to assist the Israeli police. The organization is an Israel model that developed due to the special security and social reality of Israel. Its establishment constitutes an extraordinary chapter in the history of the voluntary organizations of the State of Israel. The Israeli Civil Guard is the largest organization of volunteers in Israel.
The pictures were taken mostly during the 1970's-1980's and reflect the life of the Civil Guard in those years. There are photographs of volunteers, men and women, young and old. In addition, there are photographs of senior police officers as well as Prime Ministers (Begin, Shamir and Rabin) and Presidents (Katzir, Navon and Herzog) during various visits to different districts. There are also photographs of Yosef Burg, Shlomo Hillel and Shlomo Ben Ami, who served as Ministers of Police.
