Drouet, in his capacity as Lieutenant General and Commander of the 1st Corps, requests additional information to his correspondent, Marshal Soult, regarding the troops which have to be sent to two different military posts, stating in part `..H.E the Minister of war has sent to me the National Guards battalions, they have to occupy the 16th division military postÉ« The present letter was written only two weeks before the Battle of Waterloo. The Hundred Days (`Les Cent-Jours«) marked the period between Napoleon«s return from exile on the island of Elba to Paris on 20th March 1815 and the second restoration of King Louis XVIII on 8th July 1815. This period saw the War of the Seventh Coalition, and includes the Waterloo Campaign.
