The partially printed document being a detailed list of fourty nine slaves, thirty eight men and eleven women, with the printed text entitled ''Detailed list of the Cimarrones being at the municipality repository including the captured ones during the month of March 1858''. The word ''Cimarron'' meaning in Spanish the wild animal, which was domesticated, but which has escaped. The list includes full information about each slave, carefully hand written, including their names, age, health situation, short description, country where they come from, name of owner, and location. Most names, if not all, being catholic Spanish names as they were given the names the owner decided, ages going from 22 to 96, and their provenance being Congo, Ghana, Creole, Mandinga, etc... Some of the descriptions given saying `Colorado'', which means ''red'' in Spanish, referring to the colour of skin, some with a hand or a leg missing, describing lips, scars, beards, few women `with child´, `No upper teeth'', `Smallpox infected´, `painted lines of his nation on his body skin´, `hairless´, `one-eyed´, etc… Signed beneath the list by the municipality authority, M. Callejón. Attractively framed in black wood, and glazed to front and verso, to an overall size of 17 x 22. (43 x 56 cm). Very small, minor age wear to the edges, otherwise VG £200-300
