A charcoal drawing of the portrait of the Rebbe of Vizhnitz, Rabbi Yisrael Hager, author of "Ahavat Yisrael." Died on 23.5.1936. Widely known as The Rebbe of Vizhnitz.
Rabbi Yisrael Hager (1860-1936) was one of the greatest Rebbes of his generation. He was Rebbe of Vizhnitz from the year 1893. During his leadership Vizhnitz became the largest Hassidism in Hungary, Marmarosh and Galicia. Renowned for his work "Ahavat Yisrael. (The Love of Israel)". The name of the book expresses the love of Israel that characterized his personality.
The drawing was painted about 80 years ago. It was drawn in charcoal on Agfa paper.
