THE JEWISH STUDENT AND THE GRAPHS' DAUGHTER – A DEDICATION FROM THE ZIONIST ACTIVIST MORDECHAI MENDEL ASSUSHKIN

The Jewish Student and the Graphs' Daughter (a social story) by Adino Ha'Etzni (the penname of the author Nissan Kaplan), Tel Aviv 1936.
On the title-page of the book, a dedication from M. Assushkin to the Israeli boy Zavdi:
"Listen Israel! Today you have become a Jewish adult. Love your nation and homeland with all your heart and soul. See as a model our heroes … from the first of Bilu memebers … Yosef Trumpeldor … until the last of the illegal immigrants … Tel Aviv 26.2.1942.
The giver of the book and writer of the dedication is probably Mordechai Mendel Assushkin-Levanoni (1877-1952), a Zionist activist, the manager of the Information Bureau of Hovevei Zion in Beirut (which helped and guided the immigrants to Israel who passed through Beirut). He published many articles in newspapers in Israel under the name M. Levanoni.
