Three letters handwritten and signed by Ze’ev Raban, on official Bezalel stationary.
1. 25.11.1928 – Agreement between Gur Aryeh and Raban’s workshop and Stephen Goldman. Goldman agreed to build an iron fountain according to a sketch provided by the workshop.
Signed by Raban and Goldman.
Document has three post stamps attached.
2. 1.10.1928 – Declaration of debt to “Ha’Sharon” restaurant, Jerusalem, and approval of payment of debt by Zvi Greenberg, on behalf of the restaurant. Two postal stamps attached. Bezalel stamp.
3. Letter, no date, detailing an art exhibition (English).
Ze’ev Raban (1890-1970) was a painter, graphic artist and industrial designer. A founding father of Yishuv-era art. Taught in Bezalel until 1929. In 1922 established, with the artist Meir Gur Aryeh, “Workshop for Industrial Art”, that ran until the 1960s. In the 1920s and 1930s was heavily involved in designing signs and sigils for businesses and institutions, and also indulged in interior decoration.
Excellent condition of all three documents. Filing holes.
