The National Lender for the War of Independence – 1948

A two-sided page from the People’s Council on behalf of the ‘National Lender’ for the purpose of funding the expenses for the War of Independence. Tel Aviv, 2.5.1948 – the end of the British Mandate Period.

Under the title “To Every Jew in Israel” the People’s Council calls in an exciting manner: “The end of the regime is near: It is disintegrating before our very eyes. This requires us to prepare and set up the tools and instruments for a regime of independence… we must be well equipped for the military campaign… raising the necessary funds needed from the National Lender is 5,000,000 Israeli Lira.”

Very good condition. Some tears due to filing holes, but the text is not damaged.
