Likutei Amarim Tanya – Kopust, After 1814 – Two Copies – Variants

Likutei Amarim [Tanya], by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi. [Kopust, after 1814]. Two copies, variants.
This edition was printed almost line by line after the Shklow 1814 edition.
The title pages of these two copies differ both in text and typography. The text of the title page of one copy is identical to that of the Shklow 1806 edition, which was printed in the author's lifetime (with the omission of the names of the publishers), while the title page of the second copy is a combination of the texts of the Shklow 1806 and Shklow 1814 editions (resulting in a contradiction – the author is referred to both as living and as deceased on the same page).
Censors stamp of R. L. Yoffe of Kopust on the last page of both copies. Ownership inscriptions in the first copy.
Copy I: [1], 1-3, 5-52; 8; 28, [6] leaves. Lacking leaf 4 of first sequence. 17.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Tears to several leaves. Worming, mostly to inner margins of title page and other leaves, affecting text in one place. Margins trimmed, with damage to headings of several leaves. Handwritten inscriptions. Old binding with leather spine. Damage to binding.
Copy II: [1], 1-45, 48-52; 8; 28, [6] leaves. Lacking leaves 46-47. 17.5 cm. Fair condition. Stains (including dampstains and dark stains to several leaves). Open tears and extensive worming to title page and other leaves, affecting text and title page border, repaired with paper (border completed by hand). Margins trimmed, with damage to headings in several places. New leather binding.
Stefansky Chassidut, no. 632.
