The Baba Sali's Sacred Tallit (tallit-kattan), with which he Wrapped Himself under his Cloak. Rare

"And the tallit will spread its wings over them and shade them, as an eagle awakens its nest and hovers over its fledglings."

Magnificent tallit-kattan, made of high-quality fabric with careful handiwork. The greatest Kabbalist of recent generations, the Admo"r Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira - the Baba Sali - wore it for many years and made a blessing over it each day. Sacred ritual item, first-rate.

The tallit is made - as stated - in the height of splendor, according to the personal requests of the Baba Sali - to fulfill the mitzvah 'this is my L-rd and I shall glorify him - make a beautiful tallit for yourself.' As such, per the Baba Sali's special request - the four squares of fabric sewn on the corners of the tallit were made of silk fabric in a bluish-greenish hue (to recall the techelet strand?). An additional innovation different from other tallitot is that the neck opening that is usually vertical, along the length of the tallit, is horizontal in this tallit - along the width of the tallit.

The segulah of tzitzit is well-known, aside from its being a Torah commandment which is mentioned three times a day - in Kriyat Shema (the Vilna gaon expressed in tears, just before passing away, that the value of tzitzit in the world-to-come is immeasurable). Tzitzit - and particularly the tallit-kattan which belonged to the greatest of Kabbalists - constitutes a protection against damagers, and is also a segulah for a wife, as it says in the Ar"i's writings (Pri Etz Chaim, Sha'ar HaTzitzit, Chapter 2): "The issue of the four tzitzit is that they all derive from the foundation called 'Tzaddik Elyon.' As the verse says, from the edge of the Earth we have heard songs of glory for the righteous ... And it is known that a woman does not make a covenant except for with one who has been made into a vessel ..."

This tallit was received from the Baba Sali by his legendary assistant, Rabbi Eliyahu Alfasi, who was his trusted aide for 14 whole years, never moving from his side. It is known that the Baba Sali ordered him to be his aide, and and lovingly said of him: If I could tie you to me with tefilin straps so that you would not move from my side, I would do so." Signed confirmation included from Rebbetzin Simma, widow of R' Eliyahu Alfasi, stating that this tallit was used by the Baba Sali for many years, and that her husband had received it from him as a gift during the time he served him.

Magnificent tallit kattan, with tzitzit, kosher. 63x135 cm (large measurements). Two perforations per the Ar"i's custom (and that of the Chassidim). Usage marks. Very fine condition.
