66, 69-120 leaves, 19 cm.Responsa regarding the validity of the divorce arranged by Rabbi Yisrael Lipshitz, rabbi of Cleves. This episode stormed the rabbinic world which divided itself into two camps. This book features dozens of the author's responses to the criticism he received along with supportive letters from sages of the time. In his introduction, the author describes the polemic and the "war" that was waged against him.Like in most copies, leaves 34-36 were omitted They featured sharp words against the Frankfurt rabbis, who disagreed with the author regarding the get . Kuntres 16 was reprinted, and one leaf (marked 31), replaced the previous two leaves (31-32). Only one Hebrew book was printed in Cleves - this one! A publishing company was established for the express purpose of printing this book.Owner signature: Rabbi Zvi Shimon Elbaum, rabbi of Chicago (1849-1921) who authored the Divrei Emet and Macha'ah Gedolah regarding kashrut in Chicago.
