Gorgeous frontispiece of the author with a comprehensive article about the author and his work. Protective parchment paper over the portrait.
Rabbi Avraham Belais (1773-1853) was the Rabbi of Tunis and close to the king. He fled from Tunis in face of persecution and immigrated to Jerusalem. He later moved to France, and in 1817, he moved to London where he served as rabbi of the Portuguese community until his death.Original cardboard binding. Minimal stains on the first page. Light tear on leaf 3. Fine to very fine condition.
