A poster commemorating the passing of Rabbi Shmuel Salant, after his death on 29 Av 1909.

A poster which was printed by the Ashkenazi Badatz of Jerusalem that "On this Yom Kippur" [1909], we will remember the tremendous loss of "the great one of Israel and the holy one, Rabbenu Shmuel Salant, who was a father and a merciful protector of Jerusalem for seventy years." The rabbis are quoted requesting that everyone tearfully say special prayers in his memory and "we will awaken in complete repentance." Signed with the stamp of the Ashkenazi Beit Din of Jerusalem.
