This children’s book is one of the very last Jewish publications printed in the “Jerusalem of Lithuania” prior to its utter destruction by the German Nazis and their local Lithuanian collaborators. In the 1930’s, Yiddish pedagogy took on an increasingly important role in the activities of YIVO, during which time the institute published curricular guidelines for Yiddish elementary and high schools. Many of these programs were coordinated with TSYSHO, the Tsentrale Yidishe Shul-Organizatsye [Central Yiddish School Organization]. See C.E.
