Autograph Letter Signed by Rabbi Moshe Feinstein – New York, 1959 – Responsum Regarding Memorial Prayers in the Synagogue
Long letter (25 lines) handwritten and signed by R. Moshe Feinstein. [New York, Elul 1959].
Halachic responsum, "the reason we do not recite the memorial prayer on days we say Tachanun". The responsum was sent to R. Yisrael Gordon and was printed in Igrot Moshe, Orach Chaim, Part 2, Siman 74.
Rabbi Moshe Feinstein (1895-1986), the leading halachic authority in the US, uncontested leader of Charedi Jewry and head of Mo'etzet Gedolei HaTorah. Head of Tiferet Yerushalayim Yeshiva in New York. Authored: the Igrot Moshe responsa, Dibrot Moshe novellae on the Talmud, and Darash Moshe on the Torah.
