Collection of Fibulae – Tunisia and Algeria
Pair of fibulae, four single fibulae, and single pin. Tunisia and Algeria, [first half of 20th century].
Silver, cast, pierced and engraved.
1-2. Pair of fibulae. [Tunisia]. Triangular with rounded corners. Pierced with vegetal patterns. Margins and ring with zigzag pattern. 8.5X21 cm.
3. Single fibula. [Tunisia]. Triangular with rounded corners. Pierced with vegetal patterns. Cast image of fish and star-and-crescent symbol. Two cast knobs in upper corners. Margins and ring with zigzag pattern. 7X14 cm.
4-5. Two single fibulae. [Algeria]. Round, with three projecting clover-like ornaments. 13X6 cm, 11X5.5 cm.
6. Single fibula. [Algeria]. Main feature is Star of David, encircled by pierced vegetal pattern, and with small floral ornament in center. A similar fibula can be found in the Israel Museum Collection, item no. B78.0299. 8X4 cm.
