Letter from Va'ad Ha'Rabanim (Committee of Rabbis) in the Area of the American Occupation to Rabbi Yitzchak Ha'Levi Herzog
Va'ad Ha'Rabanim was an organization of rabbis who acted for the welfare of the refugees in the American zone of Munich.
The letter is addressed to Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Ha'Levi Herzog and it concerns the medical treatment of one of the survivors. The letter indicates Rabbi Herzog's involvement in the rescue activities after the Holocaust. Rabbi Herzog is especially known for his activities to save Jewish children who grew up among Christians.
The letter is signed by Rabbi Shmuel Abba Snieg, who served as the Chief Rabbi of the Lithuanian army before the Holocaust. Rabbi Snieg was an exceptional figure who used his position to help Jews. After the Holocaust, he served as the rabbi of Munich and as the chairman of Va'ad Ha'Rabbanim.
