i. The Bamberg Community:
5. An announcement to the community of Bamberg with regards to seating arrangement in the synagogue during the Days of Awe. Sign up between the dates 27th of August until the 8th of September 1934.
6. An announcement of a cultural event (lectures and music) during the months of November December 1935 in the Bamberg community. Stencil.
7. A calling out to the members of the Bamberg community to join the Cultural Association there, because only thanks to the membership fee is the continuance of cultural events possible and also a calling out for people to purchase entry tickets in advance and not at the ticketing office on the night of the event. November 1935. Signed: Willy Lesing, Chairman of the Cultural Association. On Kristallnacht, November 1938, Lesing was beaten very badly by the Germans and died of his wounds a few months later.
8. A page that was released by the famous Centralverein Deutscher Staatsbeuerger Juedischen Glaubens. The page speaks of the fact that that over the past few years the anti-Semitism and the racist movement (Voelkische Bewegung) are endangering the rights of Jews in Germany. This is during the first years of the organization of the Nazi movement in Germany. The page continues to explain that anti-Semetism is deeply rooted in all levels of the population and no mistake about it should be made! The page calls out for a closed front of protection that all German Jews, without exception, need to participate in. The page adds that German Jews need to dedicate all the means at their disposal and financial capabilities towards the fight against anti-Semitism and details the amount that ought to be payed monthly and collection methods. The page is without a date, but states that the coming up monthly payment will come into effect on the 1 of January 1925. The page was published by the Bamberg branch of the Centralverein and speaks of attacks that took place against Jews nearby. (Unterfranken). Two pages.
Without a doubt this is a very important item. Contrary to the impression that the Jews in Germany didn’t see or did not want to see the presence of strong anti- Semitism amongst the German nation and the rising of the racist Nazi movement, this interesting document is testimony to the correct perception of reality at the time and a step towards organized action against it. The future of the Jewish community of Bamberg, where this page was printed, and the Jews of Germany in general, shows how correct the authors of the page were. See previous item (7) as to the fate of the head of the community there on Kristallnacht.
