ZAGHLOUL SAAD: (1859-1927) Egyptian revolutionary and Statesman. Prime Minister in 1924 and Minister of education and Justice. Signed attractive drawing, in Arabic, one page, large folio, beneath an original pen and ink drawing by the German-Swiss artist Robert Kastor, the well-executed work depicting Zaghloul in a head and shoulders pose. EX £60-90 Zaghloul leaded nationalist movements and the Egyptian delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, demanding that the United Kingdom recognise the independence of Egypt. As a result of his increasing independence actions, the British exiled him to Malta and later to Seychelles.
